I would like to congratulate Second Harvest for having great turn out at the 22nd Annual Toronto Taste. The chefs, staff, and volunteers did an amazing job running the show; leaving a lasting impact on the attendees and the Yorkdale locals who were passing by. The event raised enough funds for an outstanding 700,000 meals to be served to those in need.
Second Harvest is a charity organization that collects unused fresh foods from restaurants and deliverers it daily to social service agencies in Toronto.
On Sunday May 27, Second Harvest turned part of the ROM and Street into an outdoor Toronto Taste is one of Second Harvest’s largest fundraisers, which brings together the culinary community to help fight hunger. The show showcased over 60 of Toronto’s top chefs and 30 beverage purveyors.

BBQ Steam Bun with BBQ Pork, Coleslaw, Vegetables and Fresh Cilantro
Pangaea – Chef-owner Martin Kouprie Chilled Pea Soup with House-made Goat Cheeze, Lime Sorbet with Cured Lardo on top
Sassafraz – Chef Geoff Webb Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese with Four year Cheddar Manchego on sour dough and house made Chips and Pickles
Ciao Wine Bar – Chef Saverio Macri
Chianti Brazed Chard Short Ribs with Gorgonzola Polenta and Crispy Onions
Beer Bristo – Chef Michelle Usprech Pulled Pork (Marinated in beer) Sandwich served with Delirium Beer
Celebrity chefs, Roger Mooking (Exotic Food) and Bob Blumer (Gluten for Punishment, Worlds Wildest Restaurants) hosted the live auction to raise money for Second Harvest.
Other guest included Food Networks Lynn Crawfard (Restaurants Make Over, Pitching In), Marc McEwan from (Top Chef Canada, The Heat) and Michael Smith (Chef Michael’s Kitchen).
